Verutti House

34

This single-family cottage is a folk building with Craftsman elements that was built by John Miller and Israel Mylar c. 1883. It was located behind 306 Third Street where the Verutti Family bakery was located. At one time the Verutti’s owned much of this block of Third Street.

The building has a wood framed structural system and the exterior is clad in horizontal wood siding. A steeply pitched, cross gabled roof covered with composition shingles shelters this building and there are moderately overhanging eaves. There is one partial width porch that sits below a secondary extended shed roof supported by rectangular wood posts.

A brick paved walkway leads from the street to the front entrance. Alterations were made in 1925 including the Craftsman style gable section and the horizontal wood cladding. The building has been used primarily as a private residence and has had a few other uses including a massage parlor, and antique and specialty shops. Today it is a private residence.
